Ad Standards Clearance Services Check Mark

At the request of industry, Ad Standards Clearance Services has developed a logo that may be affixed to advertising and information materials that have been reviewed by and have received approval from Ad Standards Clearance Services in the divisions listed below. Once Ad Standards has determined that submitted materials are in compliance, the submitter will be sent all logo files. The use of the logo does not extend to variations or similar materials not reviewed and approved by Ad Standards.

Nonprescription Drugs, Natural Health Products & Medical Devices: This advertisement was reviewed and approved by Ad Standards Clearance Services against the regulations and guidelines applicable to health products including the Food and Drugs Act and RegulationsNatural Health Products RegulationsMedical Devices Regulations, and the Guidelines for Consumer Advertising of Health Products.

Prescription Drug Advertising (DTCA): This advertisement was reviewed for compliance by Ad Standards Clearance Services against the Food and Drugs Act and Regulations, Health Canada Notice: Product Package Representations in Branded Prescription Drug Reminder Ads Directed to Consumers and the Health Canada Policy: Advertising Campaigns of Branded and Unbranded Messages.

Medical Condition/Disease State Information (DTCI): This message was reviewed for compliance by Ad Standards Clearance Services against these Health Canada policies: The Distinction Between Advertising and Other Activities and Advertising Campaigns of Branded and Unbranded Messages.

Vaccines: This advertisement was reviewed  for compliance by Ad Standards Clearance Services against the Food and Drugs Act and Regulations, Health Canada’s guidance document Fair Balance in Direct-to-Consumer Advertising of Vaccines and the Guidelines for Consumer Advertising of Health Products.

Cosmetics: This advertisement was reviewed and approved by Ad Standards Clearance Services against the Food and Drugs Act and Regulations, and the Guidelines for the Nonprescription and Cosmetic Industry Regarding Non-therapeutic Advertising and Labelling Claims.

Food: This advertisement was reviewed and approved by Ad Standards Clearance Services against the Food and Drugs Act and Regulations, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency’s (CFIA) Industry Labelling Tool and other pertinent guidance documents or policies applicable to food and non-alcoholic beverages issued by Health Canada and the CFIA.

Responsible Food Advertising: This advertisement was reviewed for compliance by Ad Standards Clearance Services against the Code for the Responsible Advertising of Food and Beverage Products to Children and the Guide for the Responsible Advertising of Food and Beverage Products to Children and, where applicable, has also been precleared by Ad Standards Clearance Services under its Food and Children’s Advertising clearance services, as applicable. Ad Standard’s check mark logo on an advertisement for a food or beverage that meets the nutrition criteria under the Code for the Responsible Advertising of Food and Beverage Products to Children will be provided where Food and, if applicable, Children’s Advertising clearance services have also been obtained. For foods and beverages that do not meet the nutrition criteria, the check mark logo can be used where the advertisement is determined not to be primarily directed to children and has been precleared by Ad Standards under its Food clearance services.
